For 9 years I studied art every thursday with a wonderful artist named Gladys Stocks, who recently passed at the age of 89.
Through Gladys I learned many things about life and art. Most importantly, she strongly encouraged "bold color and painterly
brush strokes ! "Generally, my chosen subjects are street scenes and folks engaging in daily life. I also keep a large envelope
filled with photographic reference i have collected over the years. I call these my "odd subjects". Alternating between city
scapes and "odd subject" keeps art exciting for me and never boring. Regardless of subject, my challenge is always to remember
Gladys advice and try to keep my work alive and "painterly"!
