Yvon Gallant was born in 1950 in Moncton, New Brunswick, where he stills lives. In 1976, he was among the first artists to
graduate from the program in visual arts from the Université de Moncton, a program which has supported the development of
an active creative cultural community in Moncton, based especially in the Aberdeen Cultural Centre, where Gallant has his
studio.
Gallant has worked for the National Film Board and for Galerie Sans Nom in Moncton. From 1987 to 1989, he lived in Montreal
and devoted himself to painting. Over the course of his career, Gallant has participated in numerous individual and collective
exhibitions in Atlantic Canada, as well as in other regions of country. The environment, community, and history around him
are very important to his art.
